If asked what means summer to you, what would you answer? I'd answer: strawberries. Then would follow a vacation, travelling etc.
Our Lithuanian summer starts from strawberries. June is a month when we enjoy a bounty of sweet, well ripe berrries similar to the ones in this photo. We don't have them in the groceries all year round, and if some of them appear on the shelves or in restaurants at the different season they are a far call from fresh mouthwatering strawberries picked in the garden in summer.
