Description
Traditional Lithuanian Christmas Eve Dinner with American Twist
-----
Lithuanian Christmas Eve dinner has old traditions and usually there are 12 dishes served. Although official fasting no longer exists, we try to refrain from meat on Christmas Eve (all day actually) so as to preserve tradition. It is vitally important that the Christmas Eve dinner (or supper) include no meat dishes because it could then no longer be called Kucios but an ordinary meal prepared for any other evening. This photo shows my first Christmas Eve in America; hence the title "Lithuanian dinner with American twist"
